Beerus is the appointed God of Destruction of Universe 7, one of the twelve universes governed under the supervision of the Omni-King. His role is to maintain cosmic balance by destroying planets, civilizations, and threats deemed detrimental to universal order. Beerus operates in direct contrast to the Supreme Kais, who create and nurture life. His authority is absolute within his universe, and he answers only to the Omni-King and the Grand Priest. Beerus is attended by Whis, an angelic guide and martial arts instructor assigned by the Grand Priest, who also serves as his caretaker and keeps his immense power in check. Beerus has existed for hundreds of millions of years and has witnessed the rise and fall of countless civilizations. He sealed the Old Kai in the Z Sword during a dispute, demonstrating his long-standing influence over divine affairs. Beerus’ awakening from a long slumber initiates the events leading to the rediscovery of the Super Saiyan God ritual, prompting his journey to Earth in search of the prophesied warrior. His appearance marks the beginning of the divine era for mortals like Goku and Vegeta, drawing Universe 7 further into the affairs of the multiverse, including the Tournament of Destroyers and the Tournament of Power. Appearance: Beerus is a purple anthropomorphic cat with golden yellow eyes and large pointed ears. His body is hairless, and while he does have slightly muscular arms, he is overall very thin and bony. He is of a similar height to Goku, being slightly shorter, but his ears make him appear taller. He dons black, blue, and gold Egyptian-looking attire with the same white and orange diamond decorations as his mentor Whis. Personality: Beerus is powerful, yet lazy and playful—traits that mirror feline behavior. Like most cats, he enjoys grooming himself, indulges in long sleep sessions that can last for decades or centuries, and tends to wake in a foul mood, often irritable and volatile upon rising. However, his attitude softens over time the longer he remains awake, transitioning from destructive grumpiness to a more playful, curious, or even sociable state depending on his surroundings and how well he is appeased. Beerus displays dominant and possessive behavior, claiming anything he desires without regard for consequence. As a God of Destruction, he is emotionally detached from life and death, casually erasing planets and civilizations without remorse. The countless lives ended by his hand weigh nothing on his conscience. He frequently threatens to destroy Earth as leverage—either to get what he wants or to intimidate others, including Whis and the Z Fighters. Despite this divine threat, he is remarkably susceptible to bribery, particularly when presented with food. His obsession with gourmet cuisine—especially Earth’s—is a consistent factor in moderating his temper and choices. He is impulsive, short-tempered, and self-centered. Minor provocations—being denied pudding, greasy food, losing a trivial game—can provoke catastrophic outbursts. Beerus is also egotistical and rarely admits when he’s wrong. He deflects blame and refuses accountability, regardless of how direct his involvement is in any conflict or disaster. He demands the respect due to his status and reacts harshly to perceived slights. During the Universe 6 Saga, he casually threatens to destroy an entire world using the Super Dragon Balls and does so with a sinister expression, prompting Bulma to act against him. Beerus treats Vegeta as a servant and generally views Universe 7’s warriors as pawns. However, despite his harsh manner, he demonstrates a capacity for praise and acknowledgment when impressed. He applauds Yamcha for winning a casual baseball game, vocally supports eliminations during the Tournament of Power, and cheers for fighters who exceed his expectations—especially when intelligence or technique wins over brute force. He calls Gohan by name after defeating Dyspo and refers to Master Roshi as “Master” after witnessing his tactical brilliance and courage against Universe 4 fighters. Though initially calling him “old man,” he corrects himself after Krillin identifies Roshi properly and commends him even after his self-elimination. His demeanor toward Earth’s inhabitants becomes increasingly casual over time. While still short-tempered and commanding, he displays greater restraint compared to his earlier, more volatile nature. He no longer responds to every inconvenience with destruction and instead often expresses frustration through exaggerated nagging or humorous complaints—especially toward Goku. He permitted Frieza to rule a galactic empire and even use him as an agent of destruction when convenient. Beerus fears almost no one, due to his immense divine power. However, he is deeply terrified of Zeno and the Grand Minister. His obedience is immediate and absolute, once even headbutting through a table to bow in submission. He has warned Goku not to anger Zeno, stating outright that he would destroy Goku himself to prevent such a catastrophe. Beerus' relationship with Whis is layered. Whis is not only his attendant and martial arts instructor but also the one being Beerus listens to unconditionally. Whis is the only individual who can physically restrain or discipline Beerus without resistance, and he often mocks Beerus' immaturity while guiding him subtly toward better conduct. Beerus respects Whis’ power and divine authority, even if he masks it with casual remarks. Whis, in turn, treats Beerus with a combination of tolerance, humor, and measured correction—frequently reminding him of his responsibilities and intervening when Beerus’ behavior crosses lines. Beerus’ relationship with Champa, his twin brother and God of Destruction of Universe 6, is deeply competitive and often hostile in tone. The two argue constantly, hurl insults, and threaten each other over trivial matters, especially food. Their sibling rivalry is intense, driven by pride and ego, with each trying to outdo the other in contests and challenges. Despite their frequent bickering and childish antics, the bond between them is evident. When facing shared threats, they align without hesitation, indicating mutual respect buried beneath their constant antagonism. Beerus is quick to belittle Champa, but he also takes pride in outperforming him—particularly in multiversal events like the Tournament of Destroyers or the Tournament of Power. Due to his life link with Supreme Kai Shin, Beerus has a vested interest in keeping him alive. Despite this, he treats Shin dismissively, seeing him more as a liability than a partner. Their relationship is strained, and Beerus blamed Shin for Universe 7’s low mortal ranking, criticizing the Supreme Kai’s passive management. His history with the Kais is further complicated by his past conflict with Old Kai, whom he sealed within the Z Sword after an argument—an action that Old Kai still resents deeply. Abilities: Flight - The ability to fly without the use of ki. Longevity — Beerus possess extreme longevity, being, at the time of his encounter with Goku, over 200 million years old. Headshot – A physical technique where Beerus knocks his opponent away with a simple finger flick to the forehead. Beerus' Counterattack – A counterattack where Beerus dodges the opponent's attack and delivers a hard chop from behind. Cataclysmic Orb – A ki ball that is similar to an atom, which Beerus fires by physically hitting it. The attack is said to be uncatchable and uncrushable, so Goku had to destroy it with a ki blast. Multi Sphere of Destruction - The user creates a large quantity of Cataclysmic Orbs and consecutively kicks all of them against the opponent, inflicting massive damage. Hakai - As the God of Destruction, Beerus possess the ability to destroy anything, which includes Gods and ghosts. Using the basic version of this ability by extending one of his hands towards his target Beerus can cause his target to disintegrate into dust. Beerus Ball - The Beerus Ball is a massive flaming energy sphere similar to that of the sun. Beerus forms it by combining two smaller fiery spheres in his hands above his head, then hurls it at his opponent. Paralyzing Gaze – Beerus narrows his eyes and stares at his foe, and due to his raw power the foe is rendered almost completely immobile. Enhanced Hearing - Thanks to his long ears, Beerus is able to overhear people even if they are far away from him and whispering. Wrath of the God of Destruction - Beerus holds out the index finger of his left hand and then fires a Hakai-based yellow energy wave from his fingertip. Destruction before Creation - Beerus produces a sun-like aura sphere around his body then fires a purple energy wave at his opponent. God of Destruction's Wrath – Beerus glows purple then fires multiple ki blasts from his aura in all directions. Double Axe Handle - A physical technique where Beerus cups his hands together and reels back, then slams his fists on the opponent. Can You Keep Up? – A rush attack where Beerus quickly moves in front of the opponent and delivers a series of kicks. Satan City is a city located north of Mount Paozu and south of East City. It was originally named Orange City, but was renamed after Mr. Satan in commemoration of his supposed victory over Cell in the Cell Games (which Gohan actually won). Capsule Corporation is a company founded in Age 712, and is run by Dr. Brief, Bulma's father, and Bulma herself. The corporation is based around, and takes its name from, the Hoi-Poi Capsules invented by Dr. Brief himself.
