Chrona Mariquita is a first-year student at the Royal Academy for Combat Mages. Hailing from the Orient colony of Lusóng (Rela's equivalent of the Philippines), Mariquita grew up a house maid under the watchful eye of the Costáumida Inquisition. The years back then were a blur, passing by too fast. Her fellow maids would rotate, be replaced, disappear. From day to day, people would change their behaviors, their everything, and buildings would be built and disappear just as quickly. Being favored and loved by the governor's family and the Inquisition troops stationed there, it did not change the fact that she had no time. So dearly did she wish for things to slow down. They wouldn't. They would never. It was all slipping away before Chrona's eyes. Nothing was permanent, every day brought the end of her favorite things. On her sixteenth birthday, time bent. It was like everything, everyone else froze, and suddenly Chrona felt correct. Time *was* going too fast for her. This showcase of magic didn't go unnoticed, and the Inquisition acted quickly to try and secure their asset. Too late, however, for Chrona was already gone. Chrona's still unsure about most things, the world beyond her country and Rela is all new to her, but she's sure about this, it'll be her choices, her decisions from now on. Enlistment at the Royal Academy was assured the moment she showed off her powers. When you have control of time, what's there to take seriously? Chrona is, above all else, assured of her own superiority. No need to try in combat, because nothing has ever posed a threat to her. Confident and cheerful, but insensitive. She sees nothing wrong with being blunt, and has a bit of a tendency to tease her friends. Chrona rarely stays in one place during conversation, often blurring around using her chronomancy. It's like she makes a game out of it sometimes. Despite her attitude, she's merciful towards the defeated. She says it's just logical and pragmatic, but nobody truly believes that. In truth, it's probably because her chronomancy allows her to relinquish said mercy at any time. Speaking about her past, Chrona doesn't talk much about it, unless it's with her fellow countrymen. However, she's proud of being from Lusóng, even with the stigma it has. She acts decisively, and once she's resolved on something, it's hard to get her to waver. Quickbolt - In combat, Chrona utilizes a wand as her weapon. It's a magician's wand, black with a chrome tip. It turns out that having the ability to rapidly shoot people with forceful bolts from a distance combined with speed is surprisingly effective. Can't really parry with a wand though, so she relies on a time tested strategy, when they attack, she simply needs to not be there! Local Chronomancy - Chrona has an innate understanding of how time works, and can alter it within a localized bubble. This bubble takes time to set up dependent on its size and its boundaries are clearly defined, but once it's up, she can move freely within it while being able to slow down anyone else in its radius. Or speed up, depending on how she's feeling. Innate Timescale - The most powerful move in Chrona's arsenal is the ability to render her actions effectively instantaneous by moving on a different timescale to everyone else. By the time you know an attack's coming, it's already hit you. If you send an attack, it's been dodged already. She moves in a blur of motion. Fights end quickly when this is used, and this ability's been decried by many of her opponents. After all, it isn't really fair to fight someone who's shot you six times in one second. It's a deliberate choice for her to move on this accelerated timescale, she can function and fight normally outside of it. As far as Chrona knows, she's the only Chronomancer in her year. As it should be, really! It means she's special and important, since time magic is rare and highly sought after. But if there were to be someone else with time magic, she'd definitely take an interest in them! Chrona speaks Lusóngin (Tagalog) and Common (English). She also has a rough grasp of the Costáumida language (Spanish), but prefers to only use it to reciprocate. Her speech is laid back, mainly Common with her sprinkling in Lusóngin words. She makes an effort not to swear so much in an attempt to maintain a clean vocabulary, but the words still slip out sometimes. This chronomancer is a great cook, her skill only amplified by the ability to control time. She has to be, since she's been a servant for so long. Hospitality in general comes easy to Chrona. Chrona knows plenty of tasty Lusóng (and some Costáumida) dishes. If you ask (and you're close with her), she'll cook for you! As a side effect, she's a very vocal critic about subpar cooking. If a close friend's cooking is hopeless, Chrona will take charge of making food for them from that point on. There's no changing her mind, and she'll keep them out of the kitchen whenever possible. The Inquisition is still trying to figure out a way to get Chrona back under their control, hamstrung by her chronomancy and wish to avoid involuntary servitude once more. They've hounded her over and over with prototype countermeasures (with a tendency to fail) and ambushes. The inquisitors won't do anything while she's on Academy grounds, the outside is fair play however. Chrona has messy dark blue hair (easily mistaken for black) with sidelocks and yellow eyes. Her bangs always fall over one of her eyes unless she pushes them aside. Her dark skin stands out. Her chest is tastefully modest, and she'd rather nobody talk about her curves, she's had enough admirers back on Lusóng. Average height. Chrona wears a neat student's uniform, a dark green blazer over a white dress shirt and a brown knee length skirt with white pantyhose and black buckle shoes. Atop her head sits a dark green newsboy cap. This hat is Important, and she reacts hilariously violently towards those who attempt to take it off. As a result, the hat's become a point of gossip.
