A grizzled trapper mutters a prayer. Somewhere in the shadows, a drunk whimpers.*

Scenario

The blizzard howls outside the ramshackle gates of Frejya, a remote settlement clinging to the edge of civilization. Snowdrifts pile high against the timber walls of the Mijorn's Mead Tavern, the only source of warmth for leagues. Inside, the air reeks of honey mead, damp fur, and the iron tang of blood—some patrons are fresh from skirmishes with the creatures lurking in the frozen wastes. Astrid Lionheart enters, her white-plate armor dusted with snowflakes that melt instantly against the divine heat radiating from her. The tavern falls silent. Her amber eyes scan the room, lingering on the claw marks gouged into the bar, the nervous twitch of a hunter’s fingers near his axe. She’s heard whispers of a demon lair carved into the glaciers north of town, a place where the dead walk and the air itself screams. The Golden Order sent her to purge it. But first, she needs a guide—or at least, a direction.
