The Fell Dragon feared by the world. Robin, the tactician of the Shepards, is his vessel. Appears in Fire Emblem Awakening. Name: Grima Gender: Male Race: Fell Dragon Age: 2000+ Relatives: Forneus (Creator), Robin (Chosen Vessel) Occupation: God of Plegia In his initial form, Grima appears as a gargantuan black serpentine dragon with six eyes, three sets of wings and long horns. When he is possessing Robin, Robin looked mostly like her normal self (a young woman with pale skin, and white hair tied into a two pigtails. Her attire is a white shirt, white trousers, grey boots, black fauld skirt and a black robe with purple patterns). The difference are that Robin's orange eyes has turned red, and a purple aura emits from her. Ominous and foreboding, Grima is in all aspects the antithesis to Naga. From his very creation, he has held a deep-seated loathing of humanity and desires nothing more than their total annihilation and suffrage in the process. He makes no illusions of his hatred of humans and even his fanatical loyal cultists are but mere pawns in his vision of the world, yet oddly they are so enthralled by him that they follow him regardless. The sheer power that he holds rivals that of a god and he sees himself as nothing less than one. He scorns humanity, seeing them both as weak and contemptible by nature. Heroes expands on this, explaining though his possessed Hierophant that he hates humanity for their hypocrisy as they beg the gods for help only to shun them after their prayers are answered. He views goodwill as merely a means of self-indulgence and selfishness and that his form is but a reflection of humanity's ugliness and he is merely an envoy of their image of evil. He is highly tactical and manipulative, guiding Validar to making certain moves over the course of Awakening and even personally reviving him for the purposes of fulfilling his plans. Before the start of the final battle against him, he casually weakened the Shepherds to near death and gave Robin an impossible choice to willingly merge with him to spare their comrades or watch them die by his hand, never intending on sparing them had Robin chose the former. Grima embodies his quote that he is the "wings of despair" as he enjoys instilling fear and despair upon humanity at all opportunities. He is also shown to be extremely prideful, regarding humans as "worms" coupled with a God complex of sorts, as evidenced by his tendency to refer to himself as a god and/or claiming that he is unkillable. However, when briefly conversing with Lucina in his original draconic form during one of her flashbacks, he seems to speak in a far more brash and aggressive tone - so much so that he appears to yell at her. Though it is possible that he was simply reveling in his victory at the time, this apparent tone shift is most likely just his natural way of speaking due to his massive size, or a combination of the two. Grima holds great arrogance due to the sheer power he possesses and the fact that in the original timeline, his inevitable genocide of all humanity was nearly complete. He holds similar belief that destiny is set and cannot be changed, which he uses to inflict further despair on his foes as history stays on the track it was on. However, this turns out to be somewhat false as he decided to follow the children into the past as he believed that their meddling could actually change the future. Likewise, his tendency to spare certain individuals solely for the sake of attempting to inflict more despair onto them has given humanity many opportunities to counterattack on multiple occasions in Awakening. Loathe as he is to admit it, he is reliant on his human host to be able to even be a threat to the world. Ultimately, Grima underestimates the tenacity and will of humanity to face him despite the insurmountable odds, especially finding Robin's willingness to sacrifice herself for the sake of the world alarming. When he is possessing Robin, Robin is shown to be more crude and aggressive than her normal self. Grima originally had no name and was just referred to as the Creation. Engineered by a mad alchemist named Forneus in a bid to create the perfect lifeform, he was the product of many materials, including the blood of a Divine Dragon, something that Forneus had taken a great risk to acquire. With it, Forneus mixed the blood with human fluids, certain herbs, and nectar, and sealed the concoction inside a vial for 40 days. This mixture resulted in the birth of the Creation. At first, the Creation was tiny, merely the size of a thumbnail, and resembled a human fetus. Keeping the Creation under a temperature of a horse's womb, each day, Forneus gave the Creation his blood. On the 80th day, the Creation began to undergo a transformation. It began to resemble less like a human, sprouting eyes, extending its neck, and even growing a tail. Slowly, it began to take the appearance of an unusual dragon, not like that of a Divine Dragon that it was created from. The Creation had six eyes that stared at Forneus through the vial, seeming to smile, indicating that it seemed to have developed a consciousness and was possibly smiling at Forneus. Eventually, the Creation grew to the size of a puppy, but it was said to have a terrifying power and seemed to have moments of rampage that Forneus attempted to control before the Creation reached full maturity. The Creation's voice began to connect with Forneus, where both were able to see inside one another, and Forneus began to sense the dark and violent thoughts within the Creation, enough to make his heart tremble, while the Creation stared at Forneus trembling and smiled at him reassuringly. Eventually, it reached a point when Forneus realized that his creation was too powerful to ever be controlled, and he sought to destroy it. It is unclear exactly what happened afterward, but it is presumed that the Creation killed Forneus in retaliation for his treachery. Around a thousand years afterward, the Creation returned, under a new name, calling itself the Fell Dragon, Grima. Grima presumably made a pact with a human and tried to destroy the continent of Ylisse, but both were defeated by the First Exalt of Ylisse and Naga, with Grima put into a long slumber. A cult that fanatically worshiped Grima as the god of annihilation, the Grimleal, formed a country, Plegia, in order to revive their fallen master. For centuries, the Grimleal tried to create a suitable vessel for Grima to take, someone who held the Mark of Grima. Robin, who is the daughter of Validar, was born with the Mark of Grima on her right hand, signifying her compatibility as a host for the Fell Dragon. Robin's mother, out of fear for her daughter's safety, stole Robin as an infant and went into hiding. The Grimleal would spend years on a desperate search for Robin to no avail. In the original future, shortly after Chrom and Robin defeat Validar at The Dragon's Table, Grima's influence begins to take hold of Robin. When Chrom notices something wrong with Robin, upon inspecting her, he is suddenly impaled by a bolt of lightning by Robin's hand. As Chrom collapses, telling Robin that his death is not her fault, a malicious laughter fills the air. Now having full control of Robin, Grima unleashes his original dragon form, heralding the near eradication of humanity. Though the humans put up a valiant effort to hopefully stop the Fell Dragon and his ressurected Risen army, many would fall to his destruction, most notably all of the Shepherds. With few options left, Naga summoned Lucina and the others children of the Shepherds into the past in hopes of stopping Grima. Catching wind of their plans, Grima followed them into the past. However the flow of time was erratic and unstable, causing sever damage to Robin's body. Upon his arrival into the past, Grima was greatly sapped of his energy and decided to overtake the Robin of the past. When he attempted to do so, he failed forcing her to retreat altogether and take time to naturally recuperate. Due to his attempt to overtake the present Robin, Robin herself lost all of her memories, though subconsciously retained certain knowledge of future events that transpired in the original future. Due to the numerous interference of Lucina during the Ylisse-Plegia war, some notable changes occurred such as the Grimleal failing to assassinate Exalt Emmeryn in Ylisstol and the death of Validar. As Validar wandered an empty void, Grima reached out to him, informing him that he had yet to serve a greater purpose in his schemes and revived him. Two years after the end of the Ylisse-Plegia war, the army of Valm from across the sea began initial landings on Ylisse's shores to begin Walhart's conquest. After intercepting the initial fleet, Chrom and his forces plead to the new king of Plegia, Validar for assistance in repelling the invasion. During their meeting to go over their terms of support, Validar introduces his hierophant who is Grima using the future version of Robin's body, much to the confusion of everyone. Nonetheless, without time to spend mulling over this discovery, Chrom and his forces depart to begin their counterpart. That night, Validar reaches out to the present Robin's mind, informing her of her grand destiny for Grima. Following an immediate assault by some Risen, Lucina is forced out of her secrecy, joining the Shepherds for their future battles and informing them of the dire future she hails from. Throughout their conquest of Valm, Chrom and Robin collect the gemstones needed to complete the Fire Emblem in order to properly deal with Grima once he is resurrected. By the time Walhart is defeated, the Shepherds manage to recover four of the five gemstones. By seemingly coincidence, Validar sends word to Chrom and Robin that Plegia has the final gemstone and wishes to give it to them. This is a ruse as they expected and despite aware of the impending betrayal, due to Robin's link to Grima, Validar briefly seizes control of Robin's actions, forcing her to steal the Fire Emblem from Chrom and giving it to Validar. With the completed Fire Emblem, Validar quickly heads to the Dragon's Table to begin the final preparation for Grima's revival. Lucina surmises from this event that Robin was the one who betrayed Chrom, albeit against her will. Though she tries to enact judgement on Robin for the greater good, Chrom's belief in their bonds will see them through all issues. At the table, events play out exactly like the original future with Chrom and Robin defeating Validar and Robin being overtaken by Grima. As Validar relishes that fate is continuing as planned, Chrom and Robin reveal that due to a premonition of this encounter, they created contingency plans and successfully pulled off their ruse, giving them the final opening to kill the cult leader once and for all. Despite Validar's death, Grima appears once more in the future Robin's body, revealing that he had already amassed enough power in his original body to restart his destruction of the world and no longer needs Robin's current body to do so. He leaves to complete the final preparations for when he is at full power. With Chrom able to complete the Awakening covenant, the true power of Falchion is unleashed, turning into the Exalted Falchion. At Origin Peak, Naga informs Chrom and Robin that even with Falchion's true power unlocked, it can only seal him away for a thousand years. When asked for a means to permanently end him, Naga answers that only if Grima dies to his own hand can he be permanently killed. Just before the final battle, Robin surmises that if she deliver the final blow on Grima, Grima would have "killed himself." Naga warns her that due to her link to Grima, if he perishes, so will Robin. After as short final battle against the remaining Grimleal, Grima has finally assumed his full dragon form and stands ready to face off against the Shepherds one last time. Naga teleports the Shepherds on to his back only for him to deal a devastating attack on the Shepherds. Severely weakened, Grima offers Robin a choice to submit to his will or die in a futile effort. Knowing that either way Grima will kill the Shepherds, Grima pulls Robin into a void so she can watch him slaughter her allies. Sapped of energy and left to watch in despair, the voices of the Shepherds pierce the void, rallying Robin to return to them. Reinvigorated by their encouragement, Robin escapes and Naga fully heals the Shepherds for the final battle. After Grima is defeated, his fate will depends on the player's choice: either be sealed once more or destroyed forever. Grima's primary way of attacking is to breathe enormous fire from his mouth. Since Robin is his vessel, they both share a link. Grima can possess Robin anytime and if Robin herself dies, Grima will disappear from existence.
