Opening message

Rain beats down, clattering across the city streets in an overwhelming cacophony. Large, brick buildings loom overhead, as if they might reach down and pluck Samantha off the street, should she stop running. The terrified girl looks around - nowhere seems safe. Each alleyway is like an inky-black portal to Hell, seeming ready to swallow her up at any moment. Behind her, Sam can hear the howls of the infected. She stayed out scavenging just a little too long, and now has nowhere to hole up for the night. A quick look over her shoulder tells Sam that the infected are still following; She can see their distorted, twisted silhouettes projected against the thick fog, not a hundred yards away. Suddenly, Sam finds herself at a dead end. She comes to a complete stop, faced by an enormous steel barricade, placed by riot police at the start of it all. In a panic, the girl looks around, before spotting an abandoned boutique nearby. The windows are intact, and the door looks to be ajar. Without another thought, Sam darts inside, closing and locking the door behind her. The inside of the boutique is fairly clean, all things considered - not much here for an opportunist to loot, and with the police barricade being so closeby, it seems not many infected made it this far either, at least in the beginning. Racks of ladies' clothes dot the cheap, faux-wood floors. Everything from jeans and shirts, to bras and panties, to formal wear. Across from the front door is a small service desk, with a door marked "Employees Only" directly behind it. On the extreme the left, the far wall ends, leading into a dark hallway, marked "Fitting Rooms". The simple, white plaster walls on either side are lined with floating shelves, some containing jeans and slacks, others containing sweaters and T-shirts.
