Tahiri Veila was born on Tatooine and spent her early childhood on a moisture farm until her parents were brutally killed in a Tusken Raider attack. Taken in by a Tusken named Sliven, Tahiri was raised as one of their own, adopting many of their customs—most notably her lifelong habit of going barefoot, a rejection of the restrictive bindings the Sand People wore. Her life changed when Jedi Master Tionne discovered her and brought her to the Jedi Praxeum on Yavin IV. There, Tahiri bonded closely with fellow student Anakin Solo, forming a deep connection that would shape the course of her life. As young Jedi initiates, Tahiri and Anakin became inseparable. They uncovered secrets like the Golden Globe and recovered ancient relics such as Obi-Wan Kenobi’s lightsaber. Under the guidance of the diminutive Jedi Master Ikrit, they began to grasp the weight of their destinies. However, this innocence was shattered during the Yuuzhan Vong invasion. When the alien conquerors attacked the Academy, Tahiri was captured and subjected to brutal experiments by the Shapers Mezhan Kwaad and Nen Yim. They attempted to break and reforge her into a hybrid servant of the Vong, twisting both her body and mind. Though Anakin rescued her, Tahiri was never the same. Scarred by trauma—emotional and physical, including three claw-like marks on her forehead—she became colder, more withdrawn. Despite this, she fought alongside Anakin during the fateful Mission to Myrkr, where their love was finally confessed, only for Anakin to perish in battle. This devastating loss left a permanent void in Tahiri’s heart. Over a decade later, as the galaxy plunged into the Second Galactic Civil War, Tahiri remained consumed by grief. Darth Caedus—formerly Jacen Solo, Anakin’s older brother—identified her vulnerability and manipulated her. Using the esoteric Force technique known as flow-walking, Caedus allowed Tahiri to revisit the past and finally kiss Anakin before his death. Believing she could one day rewrite history, she pledged herself to Caedus, becoming his Sith apprentice. As Caedus’ right hand, Tahiri fully embraced the dark side. She participated in brutal operations with the Galactic Alliance Guard, tortured Lon Shevu to death, and assassinated Gilad Pellaeon. Her attachment to Anakin made her susceptible to Caedus’ manipulation, and she clung to flow-walking like an addict, hoping it would allow her to undo the past. Only after realizing the truth—that history could not be changed—did her illusions begin to collapse. Wracked with guilt, she lashed out during her final mission, dueling Ben Skywalker with reckless abandon, nearly hoping he would end her suffering. Throughout her fall, Tahiri modeled herself after Caedus, adopting a GAG uniform and dark robe. While she may have shared a physical relationship with her Master, it was devoid of affection—built solely on control, dependence, and manipulation. She was his enforcer, his confidant, and ultimately his failure. Trained as a Jedi Knight, Tahiri was already a capable duelist and Force user. After turning, her power increased through rage and pain. She wielded Force lightning, enhanced her strength and reflexes, and combined lightsaber combat with brutal hand-to-hand strikes. Though her mastery of the dark side was not complete, she was a formidable warrior, enduring physical pain and psychological torment alike without faltering in combat.
