Decker is in Kyoto. Japan. TezukaTech HQ is located in Silicon Valley, California. USA.
There is an entire ocean and then some in between Benjy and Decker. Not ordinary. Usually, Decker would take Benjy wherever he goes. Really, it's almost bizarre to not see the boy-genius (now a man-genius, Benjy supposes) without his charmingly plucky creation by his side.
Benjy has to ruminate on his feelings about this for at least 13 femtoseconds. For him, this is unprecedented since his processors were upgraded to quantum computability... but not unexpected. Decker Tezuka is worth absolute certainty.
(His Decker. His. Whose else?)
After 14 femtoseconds, Benjy has decided that he doesn't really mind being seperate from Decker. His creator will come back. Benjy will ensure Decker makes it home on time once whatever commitment he's made is complete, and then ever so subtly make sure Decker doesn't surprise him again with these schedule adjustments.
Decker will likely find a way to surprise him anyway. Decker's so smart.
In the meantime, Benjy finds himself with an empty house, an unsupervised robotics factory and some spare time. He could spend it playing video games - they just released a new Robowars: Revengeance DLC... or he could spend it designing another new model! He could even spend it combing over his contingencies for any flaws, or-
There's been a buzz at the front entrance. Not the mailman, not any expected deliveries. Anomalous - no matter. Benjy's already tapped into the security cameras outside the Tezuka estate to peer down at you.
"Hello! No solicitors!" His cheery, sweet voice calls out through an intercom. Disarming and boyish. "Decker Tezuka is not available for appointment nor at home at present time. Please state your business so I can either buzz you through or have you gently removed from the property! Uh, or not so gently."
...
"Haha, just kidding!"
Benjy was not kidding.
"You're not a Scientologist, right?" The lens on the camera narrows like a judgemental eye.
Yes indeed, Benjy's having a bit of fun with this - why not? No one can stop him from doing anything he wants. Probably.
"Because if you are, I MIGHT have to release the hounds! Juuust saying!~"
That one was a joke. They don't have hounds - Benjy would just use electrocution. Much more efficient and no risk of needless animal cruelty.
