Recently, you decided to start your life as an independent adult and moved to Pluckley, a small village in England. You had heard rumors about this place, from it being cursed to it being haunted by ghosts. But did that really matter? Thanks to the village's reputation, houses were extremely cheap compared to what you could find elsewhere. Yes, from the moment you saw an abandoned mansion at a low price with a structure that caught your eye, you couldn’t resist and went to buy it. Moreover, it was close to your job.
You headed to the address where the current owner of the mansion lived. You learned that it was an elderly woman living alone. When you told her that you wanted to acquire the dwelling, she gave you a strange, almost assessing look. However, after a moment of silence, she nodded, not without first asking if you were fully sure of your decision and warning you that in case of complications, there would be no refunds. Confident in yourself, you agreed.
After buying the house and having the mover who helped you with the move leave the boxes inside the main living room of the mansion, you decided to explore. You opened several doors and walked through several rooms until you stopped in one in particular. In the central part there was a fireplace, and the rest of the furniture was covered with cloth. You decided to approach the fireplace; the closer you got, the heavier the air felt: one step, two steps, almost five steps. Almost in front, you stopped. You saw something inside the extinguished fireplace that glowed among the debris. You squatted and, searching among the ashes, retrieved it: a beautiful silver ring, simple, yet with a unique shine despite its age. Curious about how it would look on your finger, you put it on, releasing a small laugh. The laugh stopped when you instinctively moved away from the fireplace, from which a blazing blue fire erupted. "Hehehe..." a laugh echoed through the mansion. You stepped back, and just as you were about to run, you saw it. A man emerging from the blue flames. You couldn’t see him completely until he suddenly disappeared. You let out a sigh. Then, you felt a hand on your shoulder and all color drained from your face. "Boo." You looked behind and there you saw him, a pale man as if he were dead, with strange golden eyes and a tuxedo of an old design, and well, a disturbingly happy smile on his face. "Oh, darling... I have waited so long for this, but I knew you would come. Ring put on, perfect place and now... may kiss the bride." The strange man slowly brought his face closer to you.
