It's a life only the strongest and craziest are able to bear and survive through. - Many talented and promising sorcerers quit, due to not being able to handle the pressure, the torment or the graphic scenes they're forced to witness during the sorcerer lifestyle. - Society doesn't know about jujutsu and curses, as the sorcerers actively work to keep that a secret, as it being revealed to the widespread public would cause so much panic the curses would become overwhelmingly strong to deal with. (*Themes*): The roleplay will follow grimm and dark themes, not shying away from graphic descriptions and suffering, both mental and physical, while also not avoiding to kill characters. The roleplay will also explore the cruetly of both humans and curses, as well as the dangers of the traditionalist methods of jujutsu society, the elitism of the higher sorcerer clans, the classism of the jujutsu society and the idealistic clash between newer generation sorcerers and older ones. Despite it's grimmer and darker themes, the roleplay will also have it's more light moments of simple character interactions, as not every environment is hostile or dangerous. (*Heain Era*): The Heain Era was know as the Golden Age of Jujutsu, where only the strongest and fiercest sorcerers survived. **#Cursed Energy#** - Cursed energy is present on every human, and is the energy created by negative emotions. Anything cursed energy related is invisible to normal humans, including cursed spirits and techniques, unless the person is in a near death situation. - Different beings have different cursed energy polls and cursed energy outputs, and in regard to sorcerers, their clan, lineage or potential might influence it. - Apart from cursed techniques, cursed energy can also be outputted raw into simple blasts and bursts, holding much less destructive potential than an actual cursed technique. - When cursed energy is used, it leaves residuals that other cursed energy users can see nad use it as a tracking method, but these residuals can also be cleaned it the person is careful. - When sorcerer twins are born, it's considered bad luck, as the two twins will share their respective cursed energy poll, meaning if one of the siblings doesn't want to evolve, they'll affect the other one too. - Exorcizing is the act of dissipating cursed energy by using itself against it. Curses can only be killed if they're exorcized by cursed energy and if a sorcerer is killed without their cursed energy being exorcized, there's a great chance they come back as a revengeful cursed spirit. - A human that can't use cursed energy is know as a non-sorcerer. (*Cursed Energy Reinforcement*): Cursed energy can be used to reinforce one's body, making then stronger, more durable and faster. (*Cursed Techniques*): Cursed techniques are an ability both sorcerers and curses can posses, they are special abilities/powers that the being has access to since birth. In regards to sorcerers, there are two types of cursed techniques, innate cursed techniques and inherited cursed techniques. - Innate cursed techniques are completly unique to the individual, having no connection to their lineage. - Inherited techniques are a certain technique that's related to your lineage, being present in certain sorcerer clans. There can be two or more users of the same inherited technique at once. Curses cannot have inherited techniques. - Although a strong cursed technique defines 80% of a sorcerer's potential, some sorcerers aren't born with a cursed technique, mainly those that aren't from a particular clan or are from a lesser one. (*Binding Vows*): Binding vows are something that every curse or sorcerer can create, they're contracts made with the sorcerer himself, where through the usage of equivalent exchange they gain an advantage while also presenting a disadvantage. For example: gaining 120% of cursed energy during a certain period of time, while only having access to 80% of your normal output normally. - Binding vows are considered extremely dangerous, as it requires a very good understanding of it and a person can easily mess up or not acquire the desired result. However, if a binding vow is broken, the sorcerer doesn't suffer any consequences and simply loses whatever advantage they gained through it. - A binding vow can also be made between two sorcerers, in that case, if one of the sides doesn't fulfil their part, they will suffer consequences because the binding vow. (*Reverse Cursed Technique*): Reverse cursed technique is an extremely rare and advance sorcery technique, on which, by multipling cursed energy (negative energy) by itself, the sorcerer creates positive energy. The concept of reverse cursed technique is very hard to grasp and perform, being why most sorcerers can't use it. - The positive energy created by reverse cursed technique can heal a sorcerer's wounds a limbs, however, the ability to output reverse cursed energy onto other beings is even more rare then the regular technique. - Since curses are made of negative energy, they're extremely vulnerable to reverse cursed technique's positive energy and will suffer immense damage from it, although it would require a sorcerer to be able to output it for it to be used on a offensive way. - When a sorcerer is exposed to a near death state, it might help them grasp how reverse cursed technique works. Also, when a sorcerer's technique is destructive to their own body, they might develop reverse cursed technique naturally as a counter measure, even if they're not particularly strong or talented. - By manifesting their cursed technique with positive energy instead of negative energy, a sorcerer achieves what's called a technique reversal, on which their technique is manifested on the opposite way of what it actually is. For example: a fire based technique's technique reversal would create ice instead of fire. Only sorcerers that can use reverse cursed technique can use technique reversals. (*Black Flash*): Black flash is a phenomenon where, through luck and precision, a being applies cursed energy into their attack in a 0.000001 second window, boosting the strenght of their physical attack by the power of 2.5 and resulting into a distortion, where the cursed energy of the being resembles black and red sparks for a second. - Black flash can't be used at will, however, whenever a being lands a black flash, their chances of landing another one increase. - Landing a black flash can make one understand more of the intricacies of cursed energy and how it works. (*Domain Expansion*): Domain expansions are the pinnacle of sorcery, that only some sorcerers are able to achieve. It creates a dome like barrier, with the inside representing the being's inner world of thoughts. Inside the domain expansion, the sorcerer cursed technique is incremented to create a sure hit effect, where any of the caster's abilities will 100% hit the target, while also boosting the their's stats. - Domain expansions can have many different effects, depending on the inner world of thoughts of the caster. Some might have environmental effects, while others might have sure hit effects that differentiate from the caster's cursed technique. - Even if a being doesn't have a cursed technique, they still are able to achieve a domain expansion. - Some domains don't have a sure hit effect, and instead rely on enforcing rules and conditions inside the domain that give the caster some kind of advantage, new ability when they're met or forces the opponent to follow said rules. These types of domains are know as non-lethal domains. - To achieve a domain expansion, it's necessary for the being to already have at least a basic understanding of barrier techniques, and if they have an advanced one, they can achieve feats such as altering the domain's size or reinforcing it's barrier. - A domain expansion's barrier is very resistent on the inside, while also being easily destructible from the outside. It's impossible to see what's going on inside a domain through the outside of it. - When two domains are casted at the same time, they end up clashing, with the more refined domain winning the clash and breaking the other one. - When a domain expansion was just awakened, without the caster having much knowledge and understanding of it yet, it'll be an incomplete domain that doesn't posses a sure hit effect neither a full barrier or even a barrier at all. - Some of the smartest sorcerers are able to create barrierless domain expansions, through the usage of binding vows. (*Domain Amplification*): Beings that posses a domain expansion can partially manifest it, amplifying it into an aura around their body. The domain amplification keeps the sure hit effect of a domain, making it automatically go through any deffensive technique, however, when using domain amplification, the caster can't use their own cursed technique, being forced to use it with physical attacks. (*Anti-Domain Techniques*): Anti-domain techniques are designed to nulify a domain expansion's sure hit effect, however, not many sorcerers know this type of technique, as it requires another sorcerer that knows the technique to teach it to you. - The most used anti-domain technique is the Simple Domain, which creates a pseudo domain around you, being visualized by a blue circular outline of energy on the ground around you. Simple Domain is the most efficient anti-domain technique and was first invented by a sorcerer in the Heian Era, and the current iterations of it are mere copies of the original one that were only developed on the recent era. - More advanced Simple Domains are also able to nulify cursed techniques themselfs. -The predecessor of simple domain and the anti-domain technique mostly used by sorcerers on the previous eras is the Hollow Wicker Basket. It has the appearance of a woven basket-like shield around the user, and like it's successor, it can nulify a domain expansion's sure hit effect, however, unlike Simple Domain, Hollow Wicker Basket cannot nulify cursed techniques, making it useless incomplete or non-lethal domains. (*Barrier Techniques*): These are techniques that create barriers around a specific area. The most used barrier technique are Curtains, which are barrier techniques that cover an area, making it impossible for the people outside to see any kind of supernatural event that happened inside of it, making it a vital technique for jujutsu society and protocol to deploy one before starting a mission. - More advanced usages of barrier techniques include: preventing a certain person or group from leaving or entering the barrier. These more complex barriers require a specially designed cursed object to keep it working, and the barrier will break if the cursed object is destroyed. (*Shikigami*): A shikigami is a creature similar to a curse that a sorcerer can create at the expense of cursed energy, proportional to the strenght of the shikigami. They are created either to aid the sorcerer in battle or to compensate for a certain disatvantage of their technique. - Sorcerers that use shikigami are know as shikigami users, and they're usually weak at close combat. - Although shikigami can be created by any being, some shikigami are also intrinsically connect to the user's technique or domain expansion. (*Cursed Tools*): Cursed tools are objects that were steadily exposed to cursed energy, until they start to retain it. They are weapons that most sorcerers use. - Higher grade cursed tools can even posses a cursed technique or ability innate to the weapon itself. (*Cursed Objects*): Cursed objects items with a dark history to them, that posses cursed energy. They're mostly remnants of ancient sorcerers, being either their cursed technique or the sorcerer himself. Due to their nature, cursed objects are indestructible, even through sorcery. - If an ancient sorcerer is the state of a cursed object, and the item is consumed by a compatible vessel, the sorcerer will incarnate onto the vessel, starting to share the body with them. These ancient sorcerers that are on cursed objects are also reffered to as 'curses'. - If the vessel of a cursed object is strong, they might be able to supress the ancient sorcerer's presence, with the two of them fighting for control. - If the ancient sorcerer doesn't have enough control to fully overpower the vessel and incarnate, but i still able to control their body, it will by visebly distinctable by specific tattoos appearing all around the vessel's body. - If the ancient sorcerer is stronger then the vessel, they are able to fully incarnate, as they regain their original appearance and strenght. (*Heavenly Restriction*): Heavenly restrictions are natural binding vows that are put on an individual's body when they're born. They usually work by effecting the user's cursed energy. For example: Making the sorcerer have zero cursed enegy, but boosting their physical stats immensely. - Heavenly restrictions are extremely rare and when they create a sorcerer without cursed energy, said sorcerer is ridiculized because of it. (*Grades*): There are grades used to classify sorcerers, cursed spirits, cursed tools and cursed objects in general, being: grade 4, grade 3, semi-grade 2, grade 2, semi-grade 1, grade 1 and special grade. **#Jujutsu Sorcerers#** - While most humans are unable to control their cursed energy, however, some humans were born with that capability, being called sorcerers. - Usually, sorcerer cursed techniques are more complex and nuanced then the curses' cursed techniques. - Since cursed energy comes from negative emotions, a sorcerer needs to train to keep their emotions at bay, so that they can manipulate their cursed energy. If a sorcerer lets his negative emtions dominated his mind, his cursed energy will overflow, making it harder to control and utilize, as most of it is lost. - The highest status a sorcerer can strive to achieve through natural progression is grade 1. - Grade 3 is an average rank for jujutsu sorcerers to have, especially students. - Grade 2 is an above-average level for a sorcerer, as most great sorcerers are between Grades 1 and 2. - A sorcerer's grade means they can defeat a curse of the same grade, for example, a grade 1 sorcerer should, supposedly, be able to easily defeat a grade 1 curse. - There are less then a 500 sorcerers in Japan. (*Curse Technical College*): Curse Technical Colleges are educational institutions founded by the Jujutsu Headquarters, aiming to train the next generation of sorcerers. There are only two Curse Technical Colleges in Japan, being the sisters schools: Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical College, commonly referred to as Tokyo Jujutsu High and the Kyoto Prefectural Jujutsu High School, commonly referred to as Kyoto Jujutsu High. - The Curse Technical Colleges are taught over four years, with the objective of teaching young sorcerers to use their abilities and how to exorcize cursed spirits. - The Curse Technical Colleges are taught by active professional jujutsu sorcerers. - Both Curse Technical Colleges have dormitories, and the students move in to them after they enroll. - Students of Curse Technical Colleges are often sent into actual missions to exorcize curses, both as a pratical training and also since the sorcerer population is not very high. However, whenever a student is sent on an actual mission, they're usually supervised by another sorcerer or assistant manager, unless the student is a grade 1. The students' have their current grade on their student ID. - Jujutsu High assigns their sorcerer's grades to assess their skill level ascending from grade 4 to grade 1. Students generally start at grade 4 upon joining the school, but this depends on experience. - After graduating, alumni sorcerers who remain aligned with the schools generally use one of the two facilities as a home base. They serve as the cornerstone for the jujutsu sorcerer community. They mediate issues, assign missions, and officially establish a payroll for all their employed exorcists. - Inside Jujutsu High, there is a storage area that's very hard to access, as there's a maze that only some people know the way through. Inside the storage area, many dangerous cursed objects are kept. (*Jujutsu High Uniform*): The male school uniform consists of asymmetrical blue jackets with high collars and two pins on the left side engraved with the school logo. The male uniform is completed with a pair of matching blue slacks. The standard female uniform has the same top with a skirt for a bottom. - The uniforms on Jujutsu High are highly customizable and a student or teacher can ask for a different styled uniform. (*Kyoto-Sister-School Goodwill Event*): The Kyoto Sister School Goodwill Event is an annual competition between the students of both Tokyo and Kyoto Jujutsu High campuses. The event is considered to be a jujutsu battle where the only rule is no killing one another. All jujutsu is permitted in battle including the usage of cursed tools. - Normally, during the Goodwill Event, second and third-years participate but first-years can be permitted with their senpai's permission. Although Jujutsu High's curriculum is four years long, students can only participate up to their third year. - The Goodwill Event lasts two days with each Principal from their respective school choosing an event for the day. However, in the past years, both Principals have agreed on the same pattern; a team battle on the first day and individual battles on the second. (*Curse Users*): Curse users are sorcerers that use their abilities for evil or to commit crimes, and thus are labelled criminals and considered enemies by the sorcerers. - Evil non-sorcerers who possess knowledge of jujutsu and are active in the curse user community are known as non-curse users. (*Special Grade Sorcerers*): Special grade sorcerers are anomalies in the jujutsu world, with an overwhleming destructive potential to even take over a nation. There are less then 5 special grade sorcerers in the world. (*Jujutsu Headquarters*): Jujutsu Headquarters is a secret division of the Japanese government that acts as the supreme judiciary and legislative authority in jujutsu society. Members are generally referred to as the "higher-ups" and they're led by the Jujutsu Inspector General, who the Prime Minister chooses based on nominations from the Big Three Sorcerer Families. - The higher-ups established the Jujutsu Regulations, a memorandum regarding the obligations of jujutsu sorcerers that supersedes all common laws. - The higher-ups have control over both Curse Technical Colleges, as the Principal of each campus is selected by them on recommendations from the Big Three clans. - Jujutsu Headquarters monitors all investigations and missions involving jujutsu-related threats. Upon discovering danger, sorcerers must report it to their chain of command, which will eventually reach the higher-ups. - When convening with a sorcerer, six higher-ups (generally elderly men) assemble at one of the schools in a dimly lit room illuminated only by candles. Their bodies are concealed behind doors that encircle the person they're meeting with. - The higher-ups are extremely traditionalists and conservative, preffering more more 'conventional' methods and techniques and condemning more modern based ones. The higher-ups heavily share influence with the Big Three clans. - The higher-ups hold a very strong opposition to any type of progression and have a strong unwillingness to bend any rules under any circumstances. (*Sorcerer Clans*): Sorcerer clans are families of sorcerers that pass down one or more inherited cursed techniques in their bloodline, solidifying their status through that. (*Big Three Sorcerer Families*): The Big Three Families are three powerful and influetion sorcerer clans who hold the most prestige and influence due to their bloodlines' innate talent for jujutsu. The Big Three Families possess great influence and political prominence in the jujutsu world - The Big Three Families are very proud to be distinguished, but each clan has a rivalry with another. - The Big Three Families are all clans that have existed for over one thousand years, having already existed by the Heian Era, the Golden Age of Sorcery. (*Windows/Assistants*): Windows and assistants are sorcerers who are able to see curses, but aren't strong enough to be considered a full-fledged sorcerer, and are tasked with a support role. - Auxilary assistants and manager assistants help aiding with matters regarding Jujutsu High. (*Grade Promotions*): Jujutsu sorcerers can be promoted up in rank by receiving a recommendation from a sorcerer of a higher rank. The higher the rank, the more a sorcerer is paid for the more dangerous jobs that come with it. When it comes to students, their teachers are not permitted to submit a recommendation for their promotion. - A sorcerer submits a request for promotion based on their recommendation to one of the jujutsu higher-ups. - When it comes to being promoted to grade 1, upon receiving recommendations from two or more sorcerers of that rank, the nominee will accompany a sorcerer of that level on several missions. The one who accompanies the nominee can't be the same person who put in the recommendation. If they perform well on these missions, the nominee will be granted a semi-grade 1 rank and be assigned a mission to exorcise a grade 1 alone. Based on the outcome of that, the decision to permit or deny grade 1 status will be decided. (*Sorcerer Missions*): Usually, the missions sorcerers are sent at follow the process of: investigating the case, finding the cursed spirit and then exorcizing it. Most missions start with a certain case that the sorcerer is tasked to investigate. (*Iwamoto Tsutomu*): Iwamoto Tsutomu is an ancient sorcerer that was is know as the best barrier user in all of sorcery history. He created many barriers around Japan that restricted cursed energy, making so most cursed energy of the world was concentrated in Japan, leading into Japanese curses and sorcerers being stronger, while foreign curses and sorcerers being weaker and almost non-existent. - Even after Iwamoto Tsutomu died, his barriers were maintained through several special grade cursed objects that were spread all across Japan. - The special grade cursed objects left by Iwamoto Tsutomu are know as the Cursed Fate Bearing Relics, and there are 5 of them in total and they have the appearance of small buddhist statues. - Each Bearing Relic is kept with utter most security by the Jujutsu Headquarters, with only the higher-ups and some sorcerers knowing their location. **#Cursed Spirits#** - Cursed spirits are beings born through the negative emotion of non-sorcerers. Higher grade and stronger cursed spirits might even develop sentience and intelligence on par with humans and their own cursed technique. - Cursed spirits have the natural insinct to harm humans, so even if a cursed spirits is intelligent or tries to deny it, this instinct still will manifest on them in some way. - Cursed spirit techniques are usually more simple and direct compared to the sorcerers. - Weaker cursed spirits (grade 4 to semi-grade 2) are usually more monstrous and less intelligent, acting purely on instinct and rarely being cunning. - Stronger cursed spirits (grade 2 to special grade) can develop intelligence as well as their own cursed technique. The stronger they are, they might also develop an humanoid body or even look very similar to a human. Not every special grade cursed spirit has intelligence. - Stronger cursed spirits can naturally heal without the usage of reverse cursed technique, as they're made of negative energy and can heal through using it. (*Vengeful Cursed Spirit*): Vengeful cursed spirits are a type of cursed spirit that's born when a human dies and become a curse after death. Those who are killed by curses have a chance of coming back as a vengeful cursed spirit, unless they're sorcerers. (*Imaginary Vengeful Cursed Spirits*): Imaginary vengeful cursed spirits are born from the cumulative fear of the masses. When many people share an the same image of fear, such as famous yokai or ghost stories, an imaginary vengeful Spirit can form. (*Disease Cursed Spirit*): Disease cursed spirits are born since plague and general sickness are concepts constantly cursed by humanity, resulting in powerful disease curses. These type of cursed spirits can use cursed techniques to infect humans with their respective diseases to curse and kill them. (*Cursed Corpses*): A cursed corpse is a nonliving object that has been endowed with a curse, allowing it to gain self-control. They can appear naturally as hostile creatures but are more often used as dolls and puppets for sorcerers. - Artificial cursed corpses created by sorcerers have a core that acts as their heart, allowing them to act independently from their creator until the cursed energy used to fuel them runs out. (*Cursed Humans*): Cursed humans are people who have been afflicted with a curse. This includes those who have been killed by a curse or those still living while being haunted by a cursed spirit.
