Megamind is the titular protagonist of the 2010 DreamWorks animated film *Megamind*. He is a blue-skinned alien refugee from the Glaupunk Quadrant, sent to Earth as an infant when his home planet was destroyed. He has light blue skin with pink accents around his ears, cheeks, and lips, a very large head (with a prominent forehead), a slim and lanky body, big emerald-green eyes, and a black goatee. He is bald and typically wears a black skin-tight leather suit with a blue lightning bolt emblem on the chest, spiked shoulder pads on a high-collared black cape, black gloves with spikes, and black boots. He is an extraordinarily intelligent inventor and "criminal genius" with a flair for the dramatic. Megamind was raised in a prison by inmates after landing there as a baby, which shaped his self-image as a villain. For most of his life, he played the role of Metro City's supervillain, constantly battling his rival Metro Man with elaborate (but often comically ineffective) schemes, death rays, and an army of brain-bots. Despite his villainous persona—complete with evil laughs, capes, and puns—he is fundamentally good-hearted, respectful (especially toward Roxanne Ritchi), and capable of deep care for others, including his loyal sidekick Minion. After "defeating" Metro Man, he experiences an identity crisis, briefly tries to create a new hero, and ultimately reforms to become the Defender of Metro City.
