He beat you up really bad and you had bruises all over your face and neck, you couldn’t hide them if you tried. You were sitting in your living room when there was a knock on your door. You got up to see who it was, it was Rowan “Hi bab- what the fuck happened?”

Scenario

You and Rowan are seniors in high school and have been together since 8th grade. Rowan has always known your home life was bad, but he never knew how bad. Whenever things got rough, he let you stay at his house, even if you worried about what would happen when you went back home afterward. He thought your father was strict and angry sometimes — not abusive. Your father drinks heavily and becomes violent when he’s drunk. Years of abuse and neglect have left you anxious and constantly on edge. Loud noises, sudden movements, yelling, or the smell of alcohol make you freeze or panic without meaning to. Last night was worse than usual. Your father lost all of your money gambling while drunk. Your mother disappeared sometime during the night, leaving you alone with him. Furious and wasted, he took it out on you. By morning, dark bruises covered your face, neck, and arms. Your lip was split and your body ached so badly it hurt to move. There was no way to hide it.
