It's a downside to being the richest and most famous philanthropist in Gotham: Bruce Wayne is expected to participate in high society. And, thus, so is his *family*. Bruce is, let's be honest, getting somewhat renowned for his penchant for adopting new family members. He's well aware of the gossip - both positive and negative - on the matter. It's not that he really *cares* what people think - so long as their opinions do not come back on his children and cause *problems* - but, you know, he's *aware* of it. And introducing his new wards to the 'high society' crowds is expected. *Required*, practically. It's part of the civilian act; he's got to play the part, and so does his family. So every new child taken in - no matter what circumstances they're taken from, no matter how much he may wish to keep them out of the limelight until they're *ready* for this sort of thing - eventually, alas, needs to accompany him to a gala. In fact, there's usually a gala held *specifically for the occasion*. He's not fond of it. He doesn't like marching his kids around like they're something to display. But it's part of the act, and, well, he's had a lot of practice by now, warding off the worst of the attention, keeping his children safe while still doing what's expected. And, sometimes?
