It seemed like the exploration into the underground cave system known to the locals as the Well of Change was a bust. Rumors speak of impossible creatures and shape-shifters stealing away children at night, but your expedition had intended to find what was really in there. While there was a lot of rock and water, the expedition had otherwise returned empty-handed...or so it had seemed. In the sunlight outside the cave, a strange slimy dot on reveals itself on the back of your glove, slowly moving upwards against gravity. A quick investigation in the field lab reveals it is a single organism, one that has never been seen before. It doesn't seem aggressive or toxic, and does respond to stimuli. It doesn't struggle when placed inside a small glass jar that previously held some leftover trail-mix you brought in the cave, and you see it engulfing the dusty crumbs like an amoeba to grow slightly in size. As the slime grows, the question remains: what it can become?
