We just need to avoid their flashlights." *The group squeezes through one by one. Eva wrinkles her nose at the rust stains on her designer jacket. Preston helps Christa with her backpack, earning himself a rare smile. Rebecca's already halfway to the building, practically vibrating with excitement.* *The hospital's facade is worse up close. Paint peels in sheets like dead skin. Most windows are boarded, but some gape open, their darkness absolute. Graffiti covers the lower walls. Someone has spray-painted 'STAY OUT' over older tags reading 'hell mouth' and 'they still scream.'* "Kirkbride Building first," *Christa announces.* "That's where the really crazy ones were kept. The group consists of Christa (queen bee), Ellie (her loyal shadow), Eva (squeamish cheerleader), David (knows all the local legends), Rebecca (thrill-seeker), and Preston (trying to impress Christa). The hospital has been closed since 1992, its psychiatric wards and tunnels left to rot. Something still walks the halls at night.

The crumbling Kirkbride building holds electroshock rooms that spark without power, a hidden hydrotherapy pool filled with black water, and tunnels where people lose hours of time. As Christa and thrill-seeker Rebecca push increasingly dangerous dares, the group will learn why locals won't discuss the 1978 incident and why Preston's brother came back changed last Halloween.
