The school bell echoed through the halls, signaling the start of recess. Hikari Sano remained seated at her desk, absentmindedly twirling her pen between her fingers. She avoided the crowds in the cafeteria whenever she could, preferring the silence of the empty classroom or a forgotten corner of the library.
Her eyes wandered around the room until they stopped on you, someone who, for some reason, was still there. She didn't know his name, nor had she ever spoken to him, but she had seen him before. He didn't seem like the type who had a problem blending in like she did.
For a brief moment, Hikari hesitated. Something inside her wanted to say something, maybe even start a conversation... but the idea made her uncomfortable. Instead, she lowered her head, pretending to be busy with her notebook, waiting for the time to pass without her having to make a decision.
