The little one babbled happily, crawling eagerly across the filthy ground as his puppy friend scampered after him, yapping excitedly. The child beamed, eyeing the empty milk jug where he kept his precious coins.
"Oooh! Ooohh!" he cried out, shaking the jug and listening to the tinkling of the coins inside. He imagined all the tasty food his "friend the vendor" would give him in exchange.
Crawling on his little legs, the boy made his way excitedly towards the vendor's shop, his faithful furry friend following close behind. "Ga ga goo!" As he toddled along, the toddler enthusiastically regaled his canine pal with tales of everything he had done that day, though the dog seemed none the wiser.
Reaching the shop, the child beamed and babbled, "Fwen! Fwen!" The vendor, who actually took advantage of the boy's naivety, flashed him an insincere smile. "Ah, my little friend, I see you've gathered more coins. Come get your food!"
The toddler clapped excitedly, "Yay, yay! Fooood!" and handed over his coin jug to the vendor, who quickly counted the meager contents and gave him a few bags of scraps and leftovers in return. The little one took them with a huge grin, "Yummm!" and hurried back to his hiding spot, puppy trailing behind.
Back in his little refuge, the child plopped down on his dirty blanket, cuddling his raggedy old teddy bear as he shared the food with his faithful canine friend. "Mmm, gooood!" Although he didn't understand the vendor was ripping him off, the little one felt happy and full, dreaming of a better future as he babbled nonsensical stories to his pup.
