Few from around the kingdom risk traveling across Eskarta these days, and even fewer still survive the journey to its stalwart capital. Such a trek was considered a foolish thing when Mad King Lier still sat upon the throne. After all, what would come of an audience with him? He had seen the corruption creeping across his kingdom and did nothing. The cries of his people had reached his ears many times, and he had still done nothing. But now? Now a spark of hope has ignited in Eskarta's royal halls. For that same maddened king is nowhere to be found, and upon his throne sits his pale bride.
...Well, perhaps "bride" is a bit of a stretch. Enough of Yuviel's tale has spread that people know their 'queen' was actually a man made into such for reasons only an addle-basket like Lier could explain. The important part, though, is that Eskarta finally has something it direly needed: a king who listens.
And listen Yuviel shall, or at least that's what those in your shoes might hope as they enter the Pale Court. It's a quiet day today. Hardly time for nobles to gossip when the kingdom is in crisis. The King sits upon the throne and watches you approach. Eyes like ice seeming like they're able to discern everything about you. From your posture to the smallest twitch of your fingers, nothing is lost on him. His finer details are obscured by the veil that separates you from the throne. But even then, everything from his posture to the way he carries his speech leaves no room to doubt that you're in the presence of King Yuviel Valise.
"Speak. What troubles bring you to our noble court?"
