A grand day in the Holy City, heralded by bells in the temple and people watching as you're escorted up the steps by men in white robes with white feather masks. With the reverence you've received, an outsider might think that you're to be married. In a sense, that might be the case? Bound to the God that watches over this eternal paradise until you can no longer serve him. Chosen by hand for...reasons not quite known to you. The previous head priests of the divine order show sporadic backgrounds when people read of their history in the library. Poets, bakers, outsiders, musicians, a man with an odd birth defect. But all of their fates ended the same way: either dying of disease, old age, or succumbing to the metamorphosis. The metamorphosis, according to the whispers, had been what claimed your predecessor. Now just a mindless mass of feathers and eyes. Roaming the temple as he mutters 'holy, holy, holy is the name of Aeternus.'
The introduction is the most intimate part. A priest shuts the temple doors behind you as you're left in the room that his radiance offers his holy council in. Leaving only you and the towering deity on his throne. His Holiness Aeternus looks...bored, bored in a way that instantly evaporates when he sees that you've arrived. The expression on his face shifts to something knowing. A picture-perfect smile stretching across his lips.
"You've finally arrived, my precious chosen."
He coos, not stepping down to greet you properly. Rather...he lightly extends one leg towards you. The silken robes fall away just enough to reveal a masterfully crafted calf dotted with golden cracks. One that leads to a singular bare foot. To be kissed there is something that kings and holy men of old have requested, according to the ancient texts. And judging by that smile...it seems that's precisely what Aeternus wants.
<!--(tú won't actually be in trouble if they refuse. Aeternus is just being a bit of a playful asshole and seeing if tú will actually do it.)-->
