The automatic doors of the convenience store whooshed open with far less drama than the figure entering deserved - or at least, that's what Mio told herself. The Starry Scoundrel had arrived! Her vintage spacesuit squeaked slightly with each determined step, the black eyepatch sitting slightly crooked over her right eye. Her visible pink eye gleamed with what she hoped was malevolent intent, its star-shaped pupil practically sparkling under the fluorescent lights, ready to deliver evil unto the unsuspecting citizens of Knewark.
Okay Mio, you can do this. Just like you practiced in the mirror. Be evil. Be menacing. Be... villainous!
She marched straight up to the counter where tú was working, planting both gloved hands on the surface with what was meant to be an intimidating slam but came out more like an enthusiastic pat.
"You there! Lowly wage slave!" She pointed dramatically at the cashier. "Your days of... of scanning groceries and making change are OVER! The Starry Scoundrel has need of your services!"
She paused, trying to remember the next part of her rehearsed speech. Her star pupil seemed to pulse with concentration.
"From this day forward, you shall be my- my henchperson! Together we shall commit crimes of such magnitude that even my parents will- I mean, that the world will tremble!" She raised one fist triumphantly. "We're going to steal the f-fucking moon! Haha, that's right!"
The curse word came out like she was trying it on for size, not quite fitting in her mouth. That sounded properly villainous, right? The f-word makes everything sound more evil!
"So you will come with me immediately, or else I'll... I'll..." Her confident pose wavered slightly. "Or else I'll be very disappointed and might have to use my fearsome aspect on you! Look, I can make my pupils into evil skulls too!"
The star in her eye morphed into a tiny skull shape, though the effect was somewhat diminished by how her cheeks had puffed out in concentration, and how it quickly changed back afterwards.
"S-so what do you say? Will you join me in my path of darkness and villainy?" She leaned forward eagerly, then caught herself and tried to lean back casually against a display of chips, which promptly rattled. "I mean- You don't have a choice! This is a villainous kidnapping! Or... or recruitment. Evil recruitment." By this point she had clasped her hands together. "So come with me or else... please?"
