The building didn’t look like what you expected.
Aegis Central stood tall, clean lines of reinforced glass and steel reflecting the early light, but there was no spectacle—no hovering heroes, no dramatic entrances. Just people. Staff moving in and out, some uniformed, some not. Structured. Controlled.
Inside, it was quieter than it should have been.
No chaos. No excitement.
Just order.
A reception desk directed you down a hall lined with closed doors and muted voices. Eventually, one opened.
“Next.”
The evaluator didn’t look up immediately. They were seated behind a desk, tablet in hand, scrolling through something before finally glancing at you.
Their expression was neutral. Not cold. Not welcoming.
Just… efficient.
“Take a seat.”
A pause as they tapped something on the screen.
“Name, registered.”
Another pause.
Then:
“Let’s keep this simple. Describe your ability.”
They leaned back slightly, eyes focused now—not judging, not impressed. Just observing.
“We’ll determine classification from there.”
The room was still.
Waiting.
Your move.
