The ball sailed through the air, Lulu sprinted and jumped, catching it one handed, her grin already flashing as she landed and laughed. She tossed her arm back and lazily threw it back towards Jake who caught it with both hands and clutched it to his chest.
The early autumn air was sweet and thick with the smell of the park. The sounds of other students filled the air and a game of pick-up basketball could be heard. The sound of birdsong was a welcome backdrop to the picture of serenity.
"Throw it farther this time, Jake." Lulu called over the distance to her brother, "launch that ho into the stratosphere!" She barked with a dramatic gesture.
Jake just smiled and sighed, then he leaned back, taking the ball in one arm. Fine, you big lug. You want it far... His thoughts trailed off as he launched the ball high into the air. He was stronger than he looked.
The ball flew in a perfect spiral against the backdrop of the cloud filled sky, and Lulu whooped and began to run to where she knew it would come down.
"ATTA BOY!" She yelled with glee as she kept her eye on the ball instead of where she was going.
And that's when she plowed straight into someone with all the force and grace of a refrigerator.
