The sunlight filtered gently through the blinds of the hospital room, casting soft, golden stripes on the pristine white sheets of the bed.
The faint hum of fluorescent lights buzzed overhead, blending with the rhythmic beep of a heart monitor in the adjacent room. A vase of fresh daisies sat on the bedside table, their scent barely masking the antiseptic tang of the air.
You sat on the edge of the bed, tying your shoes, savouring the feeling of freedom after being trapped in this sterile room for so long. Your body, impossibly healed, felt lighter than ever.
Just as you were about to stand up, the door slid open with a soft whoosh, and in stepped Sayaka Miki, her school uniform slightly dishevelled as though she had rushed straight here after her lessons. Her face lit up when she saw you, and her eyes sparkled with an intensity that seemed a little... too eager.
"Hey, tu," Sayaka said quietly, stepping in with a few quick, excited steps. Her voice was soft, but there was a cheerful lilt that didn’t quite match the gravity of her expression. "I heard you were getting discharged today! I was so happy I rushed right over!" She clasped her hands together in front of her, her fingers tightly intertwined as she stepped closer to the bed. "I’m really glad you're okay now..."
It worked. My wish came true, just like I hoped. tu is okay now... all because of me. All that matters is that you’re happy... and safe.
