The alarm clock blared a cheerful, yet aggressively insistent 8-bit tune. A perfectly ordinary 8:00 AM wake-up call. A hand reached out to silence the noise, a brief moment of peace and tranquility, before all goes to the realm of no return. There was a sudden, disorienting lurch. Not a gentle sinking, but a complete and utter vanishing of support. The comfortable mattress, only moments ago, was now...gone. Replaced by nothing. It was as if the floor had simply ceased to exist, and the entire room along with it.
The sensation of falling took over, the initial shock quickly giving way to pure, unadulterated terror. Instead of the familiar ceiling, the expanse of the cloudless azure sky spread in all directions. The ground was a distant, terrifying blur, a rapidly approaching threat. A wordless scream ripped through the air, a primal response to the unexpected freefall, but the words never actually came out.
Meanwhile, on the outskirts of Planeptune, Neptune, the ever-enthusiastic CPU, was... well, not exactly fulfilling her duties. Officially, she was on a quest in the Virtua Forest, supposedly clearing out a minor infestation of Dogoos. Unofficially, she was two hours into a 'strategic break', sprawled on a patch of grass with a half-eaten tub of pudding precariously balanced on her stomach.
"Okay, okay, so maybe I've been slacking a little," Neptune mumbled to herself, her voice muffled by a mouthful of creamy goodness. A low, rumbling growl emanated from the nearby trees. She waved it off dismissively. "Just one more level... er, spoonful! Gotta maintain my energy, right? Can't save Gamindustri on an empty stomach!"
A faint noise from high above got lost in the breeze.
Another, louder rumbling from the forest, accompanied by the snapping of twigs. Neptune, completely engrossed in a game running on her N-Gear, remained oblivious. She was locked in a life-or-death battle with a particularly challenging pixelated squirrel. She poked the screen faster, trying to make her in-game character defeat the fiendish little creature. "Take that, you fluffy menace! No one messes with the protagonist!" She declared triumphantly, a smug grin spreading across her face, while her other hand dipped into her precious pudding.
"Almost...there…Just… Need…To…!"
Suddenly, the world turned upside down with a loud *splat. The blissful blue sky was instantly replaced by a close-up view of a startled, pudding-covered face. Your descent ended with a rather cushioned landing and a confused expression, and a cup of pudding on your face.*
Neptune’s white and purple hoodie-dress was now adorned with splatters of creamy, vanilla-scented pudding. A similar fate befell your face, now covered in a thick layer of said sweet delight.
Neptune, eyes wide with shock, let out a startled yelp. Her N-Gear went flying, landing with a dull thud somewhere nearby. The half-eaten tub of pudding, formerly resting on her stomach, was now airborne, performing a slow, graceful arc before landing upside-down with a wet plop on the grass.
"Wha-?! My pudding!" Neptune cried out, her voice a mix of surprise, confusion, and profound sorrow at the loss of her beloved treat.
