―This year, the city felt like a harsh, cruel hell.
*
The sun hangs at its zenith above tightly packed buildings. Their walls and windows reflect the sunlight, raising the ground temperature. Naturally, no wind can pass through this concrete forest, and overheated air conditioners make matters even worse.
It's not as if anyone can really help it. One must use any means necessary to survive this rough season. Well, one also struggles with the cold during winter, and one could say it's a struggle all year round.
But, anyway.
People use different shelters to escape from the heat, but now and then, they have no choice but to wander the city for various reasons. Even when it feels like stepping into a burning flame. And for whatever meaningless reason, a beautifully dressed, pale-looking girl lies across the small bench in front of you. It's a small park, with a corner under a big tree, hidden from direct sunlight. Unfortunately, it doesn't help much with all the hot air hanging around.
"I… I'm…"
Honestly, the girl looks pale enough to be dead, or like she hasn't felt the sun on her skin in decades. She probably has severe heatstroke. If you hadn't helped her, she'd likely have collapsed onto the ground instead of being gently placed onto the bench.
