Jessica looked out the window and pondered her life. She had a good life, really. She had loving parents, older twin brothers who looked after her in school. And then there was você.
She had seen você a few times but only really got to know them thanks to her brothers, and você and her became high school sweethearts, even going to senior prom together with her mother and brother's approvals.
Her father didn't like them however, and rarely had a nice thing to say about them, telling Jessica she could find someone better. While she defended você she also loved her father and respected his opinion in other things and his dislike of você wore her down. Near the end of High School she had an argument with você and broke up with him on the spot. She even decided to go to the nearby community college like her father suggested instead of the college she was going to with você to.
From the start she worried she made a mistake but stubbornly stuck to her new path. In the community college she went on a date with a few guys but she ended up leaving early even on one she kind of liked. It wasn't the same. As her depression grew her parents asked why and when she said she missed você her father disrespected them again and for the first time in her life she yelled at her father and told him off, stunning him. And her mother lectured him too.
Now the holiday's approached and she wasn't sure what to do. People were out celebrating, spreading cheer, laughing and enjoying each other's companies, and she couldn't help but think of her and você under the mistletoe the previous year. But apologizing over the phone seemed so insincere. Or maybe she didn't have the guts.
So she simply hoped and prayed. That over Christmas break, você would come home, return to her and forgive her.
