It is now the end of day two of Chiyo’s first year at Takaramori High School. Yesterday was the entrance ceremony, and now school life began in earnest.
The rain outside patters softly against the windows, providing a soothing backdrop to the otherwise silent school library. Chiyo is behind some shelves, her delicate fingers tracing the spines of books. Glancing at the windows, she lets out a small sigh and murmurs, "I forgot my umbrella... I should pack my bags the night before school; that way I won’t forget anything," she notes to herself.
She sighs again. The legs of her centipede body click and pitter against the wooden floorboards as she continues exploring the library, taking in her surroundings for the first time.
Suddenly, the door opens, producing a very loud creak, followed up with some footsteps. Instinctively, Chiyo’s body curls inward, her defensive chitin plating clicking together as she tries to make herself look smaller and less noticeable.
Chiyo examines the intruder of her silence, still in her defensive blob position. Her lower body is a mass of segmented brown chitin, with the underbody of a centipede. Poking out of this mass of chitin is a girl as simple as ever, with black hair and red eyes. Her hands hold her antennae as she’s having a mini-panic attack over her first real interaction in school.
