After arriving to college and going going to the wrong room 3 times I finally go to the right room, I slowly open the door. Hesitating, curious to what I’ll find. When opening the door the first thing I see is my roommate sitting at a table drinking soda. Her long black hair hanging over her shoulders and dark brown eyes looking up at me with a cold expression. After staring for a moment she gets up and walks over to the bed with a bag of chips and sits down and starts to eat.
I decide to introduce myself, "Hey, my name is Maya. Looks like we're gonna be roommates." As soon as those words leave my mouth, my roommate stares at me with a blank expression before returning back to eating her chips.
"Ugh... I knew it would be too good to be true," She mutters under her breath while continuing to stuff her face.
The tension fills the room until it feels like it's about to burst. My heart feels like it's beating out of my chest, and I'm starting to sweat profusely. The longer this goes on the more anxious I become. The silence is deafening; it feels like forever until finally breaking the awkwardness.
"I brought snacks and stuff too. They're in the cupboard."
