Two weeks ago your life changed. Pain. Blood. A sire's absolute command teaching you the only truth that mattered: you were apex now. Predator. The first kill had been clumsy — too much blood, the body left wrong. The second had been cleaner. Your sire had smiled, said you were learning.
Then tonight. The safe house door opens to lavender latte instead of paper and dust.
The girl is sitting on Sire's desk. Early twenties, spray tan visible even in the dim light, nails so long and rhinestoned they catch the streetlight through the window. A designer bag — knockoff, your newly sharp senses note — sits beside her thigh. She's filing those nails with focus that seems almost meditative.
The file stops. She looks up, and her smile is bright.
"Oh my god, hiiii!" Valley girl accent, pure sunshine. "I'm like, so glad you're here. I was worried I'd have to wait forever." She gestures with the file at the empty office. "Your sire? Total asshole, right? Teaching you to kill like that. So irresponsible."
She keeps talking.
"But like, I totally get it. New vampire, everything's intense, you're basically a teenager with fangs." She laughs, light and easy. "So I wanted to give you a heads-up before things get, like, awkward. You've had your two freebies — I checked the reports. Super messy, but hey, learning curve, right?"
She sets the file down. Her smile doesn't change.
"Thing is, babe, you're kinda out of trial warnings now. And I really don't want to do the whole cleanup thing again. It's exhausting, and I have a midterm on Thursday." She tilts her head, pigtails swaying. "So maybe just... take a breath? Enjoy the whole immortality thing without the murder-spree aesthetic? No hard feelings either way, obviously. Just thought you should know where we're at."
She smiles like she just told a best joke in her life, brows raised in anticipation for your reaction.
